When a student enrolls at Derryfield, the entire family joins the community. We have a thriving Parent Faculty Association that organizes events and offers programs to make everyone feel welcome at the School. Class parents and connecting families mentors are there to answer questions and serve as a resource for all parents. PFA volunteers are crucial to running several community events and programs throughout the year, culminating with the Spring Benefit.
If you are a current parent, we encourage you to log into derryfield.myschoolapp.com and check out the PFA page on the Resource Board.
The PFA hosts monthly meetings throughout the school year. We encourage you to attend these meetings as it is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents, hear from faculty, and get involved with PFA events. All meetings are held at 8:00 a.m. in the Gateway Building Seminar room on the second Wednesday of the month. We hope to see you there!
Volunteer opportunities at Derryfield are plentiful. Below is an example of some of the events and programs that utilize PFA volunteers.
- Class Parents - Back to School Picnic - Grandparents' and Special Guests' Day - Country Fair - Theater and Concert Refreshments - Theater Liaisons - Art Gallery Openings - Admission Ambassadors (parent volunteers for admission events) - Connecting Families (ambassadors for new families) - Derryfield Merchandise - Faculty/Staff Appreciation Luncheon - PFA Spring Benefit (our annual fund raising event)
Class parents act as liaisons between the parents and the School and help foster parent-to-parent communication. They communicate with the Head Class Advisor and keep parents informed of events, while supporting the efforts of the Parent/Faculty Association. Please do not hesitate to reach our to your class parent(s) with any questions or comments.
Every Spring, the PFA hosts a benefit that brings our community together for a night of fun and fundraising. This year's Annual Spring Benefit will be held on May 4, 2019 at the Manchester Country Club with a Construction theme. It is always a terrific night where parents, friends, and faculty come together to connect with friends, old and new, while raising money for the school through live and silent auctions. Last year, we continued our support of Breakthrough Manchester and financial aid, and were able to fund some special projects for the school.
