How to Apply

How to Apply

Start Here!

  1. INQUIRE ONLINE

If you have not already done so, please complete and submit the Online Inquiry Form. This will add your family to our mailing list to receive admission information and invitations to school events. Families with more than one child interested in applying should submit a separate online inquiry for each student.

  2. REGISTER FOR AN EVENT

The admission office offers a variety of events throughout the year. Visit our calendar to view upcoming events, including virtual and on-campus information sessions and open houses. We encourage you to bring the whole family!

  3. START YOUR APPLICATION

Applications for enrollment in the fall of 2025 are due by January 15, 2025. Decisions are released on March 1, 2025.

Applications that arrive after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis. It is important to note that need-based financial assistance and merit scholarships are limited during our rolling admission process.

Domestic Applicants: When you are ready to begin an application to The Derryfield School, please create an account in our admission application platform, Finalsite Enrollment Management.

For students applying to multiple schools, The Derryfield School is happy to accept two common applications: The Standard Application Online (SAO) and Gateway to Prep Schools. Applicants are only required to complete one of these applications, and we do not favor one over the other. We ask that you submit the Candidate/Student Profile section well ahead of our application deadline in order to track your application status.

Homeschool Applicants: Please download our Guidelines for Homeschool Applicants to understand these unique requirements.

International Applicants: As a day school, Derryfield works directly with an agency, ABC Education Group, for students who require a homestay placement. If your student requires both an F-1 visa and a homestay, please complete an online inquiry, or contact Tammy Becker at tammy.becker@abceducationgroup.com before starting an application.

  4. BOOK AN INTERVIEW

An interview is a required part of the admission process. and families currently have the option of scheduling an on-campus visit or conducting the interviews via Zoom. Applicant and parent/guardian interviews are separate and each lasts 30 minutes.

On-campus visits include a student-led campus tour, student interview, and parent/guardian chat. Applying students are invited to spend a full day at Derryfield, attending classes and experiencing our community.

Families who choose to complete the interviews over Zoom are encouraged to come to our in-person Open Houses in November or January to experience campus. A separate visit day is not available.

To book an interview, contact us at admission@derryfield.org or 603-669-4525, option 3.

Prior to your interview, we ask that you submit the Candidate/Student Profile section. This helps us to keep track of your application status!

  5. STANDARDIZED TESTING

The Derryfield School requires applicants to submit standardized test results. Our admission office takes a holistic approach when assessing whether or not an applicant is a strong fit for Derryfield, and standardized test results are only one of many factors we consider.

The SSAT is the exam we prefer, but you may take the ISEE. For more information on testing dates and sites, visit www.ssat.org and www.erblearn.org/families/isee-by-erb/. If taking the SSAT, be sure to list Derryfield’s school code when you register (2800) so that results are shared directly to us. The Derryfield School is an SSAT Test Center, should we be a convenient location for you.

Students applying for grades 11 or 12 may submit test results from the PSAT, SAT, or ACT.

International applicants are required to submit the TOEFL or Duolingo English Test results. International students admitted to Derryfield tend to score at or above 95 on the TOEFL and 125 on the Duolingo English Test.

  6. DECISION TIMELINE

Each year, the Admission Office releases decisions on March 1 for applications submitted by January 15. Admitted students have until March 15 to submit enrollment contracts and tuition deposits. Admitted students will have the opportunity to attend re-visit events in early March before making their final enrollment decisions.

After January 15, completed applications will be reviewed and considered as quickly as possible. Decisions will be communicated personally and released when ready. If admitted, students in the rolling admission process have two weeks to formally enroll.
