Co-ed “B Team” Soccer – MS
The Middle School Co-ed “B” Soccer team was created in response to the growing popularity of soccer at the middle school level at Derryfield. The team offers a chance for usually less-experienced players to experience the fun and excitement of playing interscholastic games while developing skills and abilities to continue their careers in the upper school, if desired. The team usually plays a shorter schedule than the A team; traditional rivals include Pike School and Berwick Academy.

Coach Watt
Jim Watt, Head Coach

Jim has coached soccer for 25 years. He holds an Advanced National License for the United Soccer Coaches Federation, and is certified in first aid/CPR. He played in college at Bowdoin College, and also for a year in a French City League in Rennes, France, on FC Margueritte. He has coached the varsity squads at Derryfield, NMH and SPS, and is looking forward to helping young players develop their skills as players.

Coach Asaba brings both international playing experience and a strong foundation in youth development to The Derryfield School’s athletic program. A graduate of the Pepsi Academy in Nigeria, he went on to play for Mayflower Senior Secondary School and Ikenne in Ogun State before continuing his collegiate career in the United States. As captain at both Roxbury Community College and Middlesex Community College, he developed the leadership skills and team-first mindset that define his coaching today.
Dedicated to helping young athletes build confidence, fitness, and a love for the game, Coach Asaba holds a Grassroots License and is an ISSA Certified Fitness Coach. His approach emphasizes fundamentals, teamwork, and personal growth—on and off the field.
