On April 23, Head of School Andy Chappell announced that Derryfield had hired a new director of admission. In his letter to the community Chappell said,
“I am thrilled to announce Michael Kelley will be joining The Derryfield School on July 1, 2025 as our new director of admission. Michael brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team, further strengthening our ability to find deserving candidates and spread the good word about Derryfield.
A graduate of Brown University and Boston College, Michael spent ten years at St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts as associate director of admission, before heading to Berwick Academy in Berwick, Maine, where this past year he has served as the associate director of admission and director of flexible tuition.
He is passionate about providing access to deserving students, as evidenced by his work in schools as well as his volunteer work with the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation and Education First. Michael was drawn to joining The Derryfield School because of our distinctive mission, and commitment to student-centered and 21st century learning. We are confident that his insights and proven leadership will be invaluable to Derryfield as we seek to find mission appropriate students for our school.”
