The Bank of New Hampshire selected Derryfield as the recipient of a $1,000 prize for participating in the Banking on Kindness: Sportsmanship Edition campaign. The award was based upon the efforts of Maddy Paolino ’27 and Charlize Garcia ’27, who hosted a Morgan’s Message Dedication Match at a home lacrosse game.

The mission of Morgan’s Message is: “To amplify stories, resources and expertise to strengthen student-athlete mental health, build a community by and for athletes through peer-to-peer conversations and provide a platform for advocacy.” At their game, Paolino and Garcia gave the visiting team gift bags with words encouraging positive mental health mindset, and kindness, in athletics.

Paolino observed,

“Morgan’s Message is an outstanding organization for promoting student athlete mental health. There is often a stigma behind the discussion of mental health in sports, and we were hoping to promote awareness and offer support with our game.”

Garcia added,

“I chose to join Morgan’s Message to spread her legacy of unconditional love, as I have often seen mental health struggles be overlooked in the student athlete community.”

Representatives from The Bank of New Hampshire presented the prize to Derryfield during the school’s spring athletic awards ceremony.
