Breakthrough Manchester is a six-year, summer-intensive, tuition-free academic program with year-round support for promising middle and high school students from marginalized communities. These motivated students are, in turn, taught by talented high school and college students who are trained and mentored by Breakthrough staff and professional educators. Through this unique “students-teaching-students” model, the program provides a path to college for its younger students while inspiring older students to consider careers in teaching and educational leadership. Position Summary:
The Executive Director is responsible for organizational leadership, program quality, and financial oversight of Breakthrough Manchester at The Derryfield School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Related to Breakthrough Manchester

  • Articulate and elevate Breakthrough’s mission to participants, funders, community and school leaders, and the community at large.
  • Implement and continually refine Breakthrough’s strategic vision and direction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Breakthrough institutional partners, The Derryfield School, and Southern New Hampshire University, through networking, attending events, and regular communication.

Assistant Director of Athletics

Overview:

The Derryfield School seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking Assistant Director of Athletics to support the Director of Athletics in leading a high-functioning athletic department while also serving as the School’s leader in Strength & Conditioning and fitness programming. This position blends athletic administration, program development, wellness education, and direct instruction.

The Assistant Director of Athletics supports the day-to-day operations of the athletic department while developing and leading a comprehensive Strength & Conditioning (S&C) program for students in grades 6–12. The role includes coordination with the Director of Athletics and Director of Wellness to ensure that S&C programming aligns with and enhances the LEAD curriculum and broader wellness initiatives, and includes responsibility for revenue-generating programs.

Athletic Department The Assistant Director of Athletics supports the Director of Athletics to fulfill the day-to-day operations of the athletic department.

● Support the Director of Athletics (AD) with scheduling and rescheduling of games and practices using and coordinating with multiple software platforms.

● Assist the AD in responding to parents, athletes, and community members.

● Participate in the hiring process of coaches and Athletic & Wellness (A&W) staff.

● Serve as lead social media coordinator for the athletic department.

● Provide administrative coverage at athletic events (two of the three seasons, when not coaching), including: ○ Greeting officials and ensuring arrival

● Offer after-school S&C programming (2:30–4:30 p.m.) for middle and upper school students and staff for two seasons; collaborate with Division Heads and Director of Athletics to train staff for third season coverage.

● Develop individualized fitness programs for students, faculty, staff, and athletic teams.

● Ensure programming reflects best practices in youth training and long-term athletic development (familiarity with the Boyle Method preferred).

Integration with LEAD & Wellness

● Collaborate with the Director of Wellness and LEAD Department to design and teach fitness components of the LEAD curriculum from a holistic wellness perspective.

● Contribute to health, wellness, SEL, and leadership instruction within the A&W curriculum.

● Teach 1–2 A&W exploration classes per semester (e.g., climbing, pickleball, volleyball, basketball).

● Work with the AD to develop and staff Exploration offerings in A&W.

A&W Facility Oversight & Experiential Programming

● Oversee and maintain the cardio and S&C facilities in partnership with the AD.

● Provide instruction in and oversee maintenance of the climbing wall and high/low ropes courses.

● Develop curricular and co-curricular programming utilizing the A&W.

● Develop and oversee revenue-producing after hours S&C programming for students, staff, alumni, and community members, including personal (or small group) training programs.

Develop revenue-producing summer programming. Revenue goals for this position will be set annually.

Registrar and College Counseling Coordinator

Title: Registrar and College Counseling Coordinator

Position Description: The Registrar and College Counseling Coordinator is responsible for maintaining all student records and provides administrative support to the College Counseling office. This is a highly collaborative position that requires interaction with all constituencies of the school, both internal and external. This is a 12-month position with flexibility depending on experience. Reports to: Director of College Counseling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support student course registration, scheduling, and other registrar duties.
  • Work closely with the Director of College Counseling to support the work of the College Office.
  • Maintain students’ academic and extracurricular records and serve as a resource for students and families throughout their Derryfield experience.
  • Coordinate scheduling/system work for various departments in the school.
  • Process incoming and outgoing students; prepare related documents, records and files; coordinate with the Business Office, Admission Office and Division Heads to manage documentation, support transitions and verify credit transfers, curriculum requirements and course selection.
  • Work closely with the Head of Upper School to coordinate Commencement, National Honor Society and other events.
  • Support the process for submitting written comments, reporting grades each semester and final grades, and support teachers during the grade recording process.
  • Collaborate on schedules for students in all grades.
  • Help to lead the technological transition of software as related to the Registrar’s position including course registration, course scheduling, reporting and record keeping.
  • Prepare transcripts for all students; post semester and final grade reports. In addition, respond to Alumni requests for transcripts when needed.
  • Query data from the student information database for reports and data requests.
  • Maintain a high degree of data integrity in coordination with support staff.

  • Greet families, students and college representatives. Schedule and coordinate over one hundred college visits each fall.
  • Collaborate to generate the school profile, college planning calendar and other documents for the college office.
  • Maintain the SCOIR college database and student information and access.
  • Manage the tracking and sending of all teacher recommendations, counselor reports and transcripts to colleges.
