Ben Dougherty earned his undergraduate degree in Wildlife Biology and Natural Resources Management from the University of Montana and his M.S.Ed in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. He initially began his educational career as a Wilderness Instructor with Outward Bound, and his passion for helping to develop students as community members and leaders continues to be at the core of his work. Eventually taking his love of education indoors (some of the time), Ben worked as a science teacher at The Hyde School in Bath, Maine, a science teacher and administrator at The Island School in Eleuthera, The Bahamas, and as a teacher and administrator at the High Mountain Institute in Leadville, Colorado. Ben enjoys spending time with his family, riding his bike, and skiing whenever and wherever he can.
Located in Manchester, NH, The Derryfield School is a private day school for grades 6-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
