The Derryfield Cougars put up nine runs in the fifth on its way to a 14-4 victory over Sunapee on Monday. The rally was led by singles by Kevin Adie, Owen Clemans, Alex Comire, and Janai Cruz and a double by Mitchell Regan.
Derryfield fired up the offense in the first inning scoring two to get the game started. Will Perkowski drove in two runs when he doubled after two game opening walks of Alex Comire and John Mcdevitt.
The Cougars notched another nine runs in the fifth inning. Adie, Regan, Clemans, Comire, and Cruz each had RBIs in the frame.
Perkowski was the winning pitcher for the Cougars. Perkowski surrendered four runs on six hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero.
D Cliford led things off on the pitcher's mound for Sunapee. The hurler went four innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out six. S Flint threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
The Cougars racked up 12 hits. Regan, Adie, Comire, and Perkowski all managed multiple hits for The Cougars. Perkowski, Comire, Adie, and Regan all had two hits to lead The Cougars.
A Claus went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Sunapee in hits. Sunapee didn't commit a single error in the field. J Roth had the most chances in the field with six.
