Soccer – Girls

Varsity

Starting as a club sport in 1985, the girls’ varsity soccer team has experienced significant success. The team was officially recognized by the NHIAA in 1986; the Cougars earned ten state titles (some at the higher combined MS level) between 1989 and 2001. Recently, Derryfield has earned Division IV state titles in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2014. Since winning their 2014 state title, the girls’ varsity soccer team moved up to compete in Division III. The girls’ varsity soccer team won the state title again in 2015 and made an appearance in the 2021 semi-finals. Derryfield’s successful strategy is based on recognizing where and when the next best pass will lead to a scoring opportunity. We are also fortunate to have players who love the game and play spring soccer on ODP and their town club teams. Several of our players have experienced success at the collegiate level, playing for Duke, UConn, Middlebury, Williams, Boston University, West Point, Union, and Trinity.

JV

Girls’ JV soccer is a great team for those who want to work on their fitness, learn the basics of soccer, refine their skills, and have a great time doing it all. While the record in past years may have some scores we would rather forget, this is a team that never lets a bad game get in the way of a good time. In fact, this team faces challenges with happy determination, laughing in the face of disaster, and positively grinning at the specter of defeat. With the addition of some new blood this year, and some newcomers to the sport of soccer, we are looking forward to forming a team and having another fun season.
