  • Lacrosse - MS Girls

    2020 - 2021
    Head Coach: Laura Russell

The Derryfield Middle School Girls' Lacrosse team embodies the philosophy of middle school athletics. While the roster boasts of some excellent and experienced young athletes every year, the majority of our players are picking up lacrosse sticks for the very first time. Many of our players get 'hooked', and move on to varsity level lacrosse in the upper school. Ultimately, it is the enthusiasm and team spirit of our players that makes every year an incredible amount of fun.

  • A Good Day's Work

Derryfield came out strong by winning their first draw of the season, and this created a great sense of excitement for the rest of the game. With the appearance of veteran goalkeeper Lily Kfoury in the net for the first half, the defense had a bit of time to get themselves settled and then to make some good midfield transitions. This newfound confidence led to many more shots on goal by DS attack players, and while this did not translate into a "W," the team gained a better understanding of how the attack works. During the second half, rookie Audrey Labbe's assertiveness helped the defense bring the ball back to midfield several times.
