    2020 - 2021
    Head Coach: Ross Feitlinger

The Middle School Alpine Ski Team is open to seventh and eighth graders who want to learn to race or to improve their racing skills. Skiers do not have to have racing experience, but they should be able to safely ski intermediate to advanced trails. The season begins with dryland training, focusing on developing stamina and strengthening the muscles used in skiing. In January we begin training once or twice a week at Pat’s Peak where skiers practice running slalom and giant slalom courses and work on improving their form and speed. During the season students attend three daylong races, competing against other middle school students.

Team News

List of 3 news stories.

Congrats to all ski racers for an excellent season! We had all four races and that is amazing. It has been so wonderful to see how much you have grown as ski racers in such a short period of time. Some extra shoutouts to Garrett Lande for thanking the race starter before his GS run. Also, Eli and Maddy were both complimented by the race officials on how much they have improved from their first race to our last race. That is impressive to get noticed by them, considering they do several races in a week with hundreds of racers throughout the season. Kiddos to you three! Finally, we say goodbye to our 8th graders, some of which have been on the team for the last two years. Coach and I hope you ski in the upper school and you stop by and chat with us.

    On to some highlights:
Our small but intrepid girls team of 4 all got points for DS.
    GS- Third place with 8th, 13th, 15th, 22nd
SL- Third (but only by 7 points!!) 3rd (Great job Phoebe), 8th, 13th, 26th.

    GS- Second- 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th
    SL- Second- 3rd, 8th, 9th, 16th

The full results have been posted.

  • Race #2 1/28

Congrats to all the racers on another successful race. Coaches are really starting to see improvement and growth from the new racers and our veteran racers are really pushing themselves to be even better. We are a lot smaller of a team compared to Sunapee and Kearasarge and despite that, we have had some amazing accomplishments.

The race results are uploaded to the shared folder, but highlights include-
Boys 3rd overall in GS with Garrett L. taking 3rd overall
Boys 2nd in SL with Jack D. in 4th and John S. in 5th
Girls 3rd in GS with Chloe L. in 5th and Aubrey W. in 6th
Girls 2nd in SL with Aubrey in 6th and Chloe in 7th

I also stood on the side of the courses to take rapid fire photos (sorry about the 400+ pics), but please take a look and enjoy them. They are also great to see your body positioning and see if you can improve your stance.

Have a great weekend, see you on Monday and Tuesday for practice and race #3 on Thursday.*

*A plug for Thursday if you are getting driven to the mountain (and you normally take the bus during practice) please email by noon on Wednesday. Even if you think you have emailed me about the whole season, another email will go a long way. Don't forget to do your spit test by Wednesday afternoon and do your Magnus check by 7 am on Thursday.
