The Derryfield School Lyceum Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Revitalize with Nature, a solo exhibition of landscape photography by Vermont-based artist, Brenda Petrella. The exhibition will feature photographs primarily taken in and around Vermont as well as some photos taken during Petrella’s travels to the Yukon. Petrella’s work reminds us that we are a part of nature and not separate from it. She hopes that her work will inspire others to take the time to get out into their environment to find the peace, beauty, and solace that can be found in the natural world.
Originally from New Jersey, Petrella, is a molecular biologist by training, a sustainability advocate in practice, and a photographer by vocation. After careers as a cancer biologist and as a biosafety professional, she decided to honor her love of the outdoors and pursue a long-standing interest in photography. She is now a Vermont-based outdoor photographer focusing primarily on landscape, night sky, and rural life photography.
Petrella’s work has been shown locally around the Upper Valley in New Hampshire and Vermont. In addition to exploring New England, her work is inspired by recent trips out west and to the Yukon, and she will be hosting a photography and wild-life safari this spring in Botswana.
Revitalize with Nature runs from November 13 through January 11, 2018. The Gallery is open weekdays, 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. There will be a reception for the artist on Thursday, December 6 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Located in Manchester, NH, The Derryfield School is a private day school for grades 6-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
