On a damp Sunday morning at Bedford HS, Derryfield varsity completed their season with a 1-0 victory vs Hanover earning the school's 5th State title and first in Division II. In front of a large crowd of supporters, it was an even first 20 minutes until Lindsey Stagg intercepted an aerial pass and attacked their circle, unleashing a reverse sweep shot which rocketed past the Hanover goalkeeper. The half ended with Derryfield in front, 1-0. In the second half, DS really raised their game, pinning Hanover in their own half for long periods and winning a series of penalty corners. A combination of good goalkeeping and rebounds/deflections going narrowly wide kept Derryfield from getting that second insurance goal. In the final few minutes, Hanover threw everything into attack to try and force the game into overtime, but two good saves by DS goalie, Olivia Bollengier along with some resolute defending by the Derryfield penalty corner unit denied their efforts. A penalty corner with time expired made for an intense ending, but Derryfield prevailed to become the 2018 NH Division II Champions.
