The Lyceum Gallery’s first exhibition of the 2018-2019 season, Hover: Works by Patrick Dunfey showcased a selection of Dunfey's paintings from the early 1990s to present day. Within this selection, one can notice reoccurring themes in Dunfey's work (single object focus, interest in landscape and nature, use of a limited color palette), as well as ways he has changed his art-making practice in terms of scale and his flow between precision and abstraction.
Students and community members joined artist Patrick Dunfey for a lively gallery reception and artist talk on Friday, October 5. Patrick responded to student questions on his art and art-making practice that had been submitted prior to the reception and answered questions from the audience that evening. Derryfield's Dan Pouliot played guitar and sang, and the PFA provided a lovely spread and decor to add to the evening's festivities.
Patrick met with art classes on Wednesday, October 17 prior to the show's closing on November 4.
Later this fall we welcome landscape photographer Brenda Petrella to the Lyceum Gallery. A molecular biologist by training, Petrella approaches her work both as a scientist and a conservationist. Her work will be on view November 13 - January 11, with a gallery reception on December 6.
Located in Manchester, NH, The Derryfield School is a private day school for grades 6-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
