Philosophy and Guidelines
We recognize that the full cost of an independent education is beyond the means of many outstanding students and families. To this end, the need-based financial aid program at The Derryfield School is designed to help make a Derryfield education accessible to qualified students who could not otherwise afford the cost of attending. In the 2016-2017 school year, Derryfield is providing financial assistance to 26% of the student body, with awards that vary from 8% to 95% of tuition. The Derryfield School follows the guiding principles established by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in that the responsibility of financing a private education rests primarily with the student's family. Derryfield remains committed to assisting families and enrolling a diverse and talented student body. Both admission and financial aid are open to students of any sex, race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin. All financial data and subsequent proceedings with the School are strictly confidential; only members of the Financial Aid Committee have access to a family’s information.
