Three Students Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists

Elaine Loft
Three members of the senior class at The Derryfield School have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Jaisen Soundar, Zach Rabold, and Jack Schroeder were notified in February they are in the running for Merit Scholarships.

Approximately half of the finalists will be selected to receive a scholarship, based upon their abilities, skills, and accomplishments. Under review are the finalist's academic record, information about the school's curriculum and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score, an official written recommendation from Derryfield, information about the finalist's activities and leadership, and the finalist's own essay.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Nearly 1.5 million high school students enter the program each year. Approximately 7,250 finalists are eventually selected to receive an award.
