Belmont Tops Derryfield
Division III Belmont came to Division IV Derryfield, and played as if they were defending their own home court. The Cougars 2-3 zone defense was good, but the Red Raiders’ man-to-man was better. It earned the visitors a 51-28 win that dropped Derryfield to 11-3.
Sam Fazelat hit 1 of 2 from the foul line. Hunter Crawford scored inside, and Alex Murray netted a 3-pointer at the end of the first quarter, but Belmont led 11-6. And the Raiders kept adding to that early lead in each of the following quarters.
Alex finished with 3 3s for a team-leading 9 points. Sam scored in every quarter for 7. Nate Boudreau and Elias Kanteres each hit a 3, and Hunter, Logan Purvis and Jon Martinez each scored inside.
