Derryfield vs. Manchester Memorial/Central
A Monday evening match up between Queen City rivals took place at Manchester Memorial which saw the Manchester Knights (Memorial and Central) coming off a rivalry win over fellow Queen City rival Trinity host our Cougars for bragging rights.
Our boys wasted little time jumping out to a quick lead with sophomores Alex Murray (9-1) and Chili Cabot (1 and 4) connecting on our first 4 goals with junior Ethan Flanagan (1-0) and sophomore Max Fowler (1-0) stretching the lead to 6-0 before Manchester would get on the board. The second quarter saw more of the same with junior Quinn Silvio (2-0) blowing a pair of shots past the goalie along with freshman RJ Proulx (3-0) to extend our halftime lead to 14-2. In the second half senior Evan Cote (1-0) found the back of the net off a nice feed from sophomore Michael Grunbeck (0-1). Freshman Liam Canty (0-1) also chipped in with an assist and 3 GB 's. In the faceoff circle sophomore Logan Dyer turned in another dominant day winning 18 of 21 faceoffs along with freshman RJ Proulx who won 4 of 4. Junior Will Perkins played the wing on faceoffs picking up 3 GB's and played excellent 1v1 defense.
The defense was led by junior Dugan Brewer-Little (4 GB's) along with fellow juniors Tyler Lautieri (1 GB) and Jared Moulton (1 GB) who along with sophmore's Tyler Marsden (2 GBs), Quinn McGinley (2 GBs) and Elias Kanteres and freshman Caleb May, helped to shut down the Manchester attack until very late in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Parker Lebiedz (4 saves) and junior Calvin Reilly (3 saves) split halves and helped pick up the win in net.
The JV team also played well winning 7-1 behind goals from sophomore Michael Grunbeck (2-0), junior Calvin Reilly (1-1), seniors Keegan Butler (1-0) and Evan Cote (1-0) and junior Will Perkins (1-2) along with junior Sam Hines (0-2) sophomore Tyler Marsden (0-1) assists.
