Derryfield vs. Kingswood
On Friday night the boys varsity and jv lacrosse team welcomed the Kingswood knights to the Cougar Bowl for senior night. Everyone stepped up to make it a memorable night for seniors Evan Cote, Keegan Butler and our senior manager Erin Caparrelli.
The game started a bit slow with both teams trading possessions and shots before freshman RJ Proulx (1 and 1) scored off a cut and feed from sophomore Alex Murray (5-2). That assist would lead to the start of a seven point explosion for Alex. After two straight goals from Alex, fellow sophomore Chili Cabot would strike off a feed from Junior Ethan Flanagan (2 and 1) to finish off the first quarter with our boys taking a 4-1 lead. Alex and Ethan continued to stretch our lead in the second quarter with junior Tate Flint (0-5) finding cutters to record 4 of his five assists in the first half. Junior Quinn Silvio (2-1), sophomore Max Fowler (1-0, 8 GB's) and senior Evan Cote (3-0) finished off the scoring to help us take a 13-1 halftime lead. The second half saw senior Evan Cote score twice more for his first hat trick of his career with the final goal coming from a nice feed from freshman Logan Dyer (0-1). Junior Will Perkins collected 3 GB's on the wings and in the defensive end of the field along with freshman Liam Canty who recorded 4 GB's. Sophomore Logan Purvis was untouchable at the faceoff circle winning all 21 draws he took while freshman RJ Proulx also chipped in with a win to keep us perfect on the day.
The defense was lights out with juniors Dugan Brewer Little (3 GBs), Tyler Lautieri (2 GBs) and Jared Moulton (2 GBs) all playing lock down defense. Sophomore Tyler Marsden (2 GBs), Quinn McGinley (3 GBs) and Elias Kanteres (1 GB) also saw action and did well. Junior Calvin Reilly (3 saves) and sophomore Parker Lebiedz split halves to pick up the win.
The JV team also played well picking up a 6-0 win. Senior Keegan Butler (3-0) also played his best game of the season recording his first ever hat trick. Keegan's first and second goals came from phenomenal looks and feeds by juniors Sam Hines (0-1) and Will Perkins (0-1). Junior Calvin Reilly (1-0) picked up a goal off a nice feed from his brother Marshall (0-1), while 8th grader Connor Bradley (2-0) not only offered some depth, but also chipped in with two goals. Fellow 8th grader Garrett Lande did a great job at the faceoff X winning 6 of 8 face offs. Junior Mitch Cayer led all midfielders with 4 GB's, while freshman Dylan Clyne, sophomores Avery Bracy and Michael Grunbeck also all chipped in with a GB each. The defense was impressive pitching a shutout behind freshman Caleb May (2 GBs), sophomores Elias Kanteres, Tyler Marsden (3 GBs) and Quinn McGinley (1 GB). Junior Calvin Reilly and sophomore Parker Lebiedz (1 save) split halves in this one as well.
With the wins the varsity team improves to 10-3 while the JV team improves to 8-2-1. Great job, boys! We return to action Monday for a Queen City clash against Manchester Memorial/Central...until then...we are...
