Sanborn Invitational Saturday, April 23rd
The DS Cougars took to the track on Saturday for one of our most competitive (and longest!) meets of the season.
With 30 teams in attendance, the competition was fierce both on the track and on the field.

We had a number of personal records and outstanding performances set yesterday! Here are just a few of the highlights from our first invitational:
Grey Donahue, Chelsea Pham, and Emma Beuerle got things started in the 100 meter dash, finishing in 18.01, 18.05, and 16.31, respectively.
In the 1600, Skylar Wagner's goal was to run sub 7:00 pace, and she absolutely crushed her goal, finishing in 6 minutes 38 seconds. Senior Eliza Lamont also earned a new PR for herself in the event with a time of 6:56!
Junior Nate Barrett earned yet another PR in the 1600 with a time of 5 minutes, 32 seconds, which is 16 seconds faster than his time from our meet at Winnisquam on Tuesday. Both Ben Roy and Jon Flinkfelt fought hard and held on to the front pack in their respective heats, both finishing only a few seconds off of their career personal bests. Matthew Farrah went out fast and confident with the front pack, leading him to a new PR of 5 minutes and 53 seconds!
In the 800, Jaylyn Pelletier cut off 6 seconds with a time of 3 minutes 3 seconds. Alexander Teng also ran his first open 800 with a time 2:48.62.
In the 400 dash, Kennedy Amorim came through with another PR this season, finishing in a time of 1:13.43. Ben LaFlamme also PR'd in the event by 0.48 seconds!
In the discus, Sarah Murphy set yet another new PR of 82' 6"!
In Javelin, Alexander DeGregorio finished out the day with a best throw of 63' 02", and Nate Barrett tried out the event for the first time with a best throw of 41'10".
The 4x400 relay was our last event of the day, and despite being placed in a very fast heat, our boys team hung on and came through with an overall time of 4:42.62. Alex DeGreorio led off the 4x400 team with great grit and experience, followed by Adam Henderson, Clark Cayer, and Ben LaFlamme.
It was a long day out in Sanborn, but all of our athletes showed true perseverance and dedication in all of their events. We could not be more proud!
