Derryfield vs. Hopkinton part 2

Coach Hettler
The boys varsity and jv lacrosse team took the field Friday looking to build on their win Tuesday over the Hawks. Another dominant effort was put in by both the offense and defense leading to a 16-5 victory and our 10th win of the season.
Freshman Chili Cabot (4 and 1) and Alex Murray (2 and 2) continued their impressive freshman campaign, hooking up for the teams first goal of the game just 39 seconds into the match. Senior Cole Giersch also had a big game recording four goals on the day off of some fantastic cuts to free himself from his defender. Senior Will Mancini said he was feeling a pole goal before the game and while he didn't score with a pole, he did chip in a goal playing short stick. Senior captain Chad Dean (4 and 2) continued his recent offensive explosion with four goals of his own. Fellow senior captain Ryan Etzo and sophomore Quinn Silvio were uncharacteristically kept off the score sheet, but did all of the little things on the wings and the defensive end to make us successful. Senior Kyle Carpentier (1a and 7/8 facing off) combined with freshman Logan Purvis (6/12) to dominate the faceoff X. Freshman Jacob Willett also saw his first varsity action at the X as well. Sophomore Will Perkins recorded his first varsity assist and combined with sophomore Marshall Reilly to play some good midfield defense. Sophomore Calvin Reilly also saw significant minutes at attack and did a really nice job.
Defensively seniors Ryan Caparrelli (3 saves in a half), Jaxon Snyder (1 save) and Liam Hill (2 saves) all saw action in the net earning the victory. Jaxon and Liam continued to lead by example when not in net taking up poles and short sticks to help us build depth in the defensive end. Senior Will Mancini (5 GB's) had a big day on the wings, while fellow close defenders Andrew Wold (2GB's) and Tyler Lautieri (1GB) also played well. Sophomore Jared Moulton (2GB's) saw significant action at close defense while fellow sophomore Dugan Brewer Little (7GB's) played very well on the wings as an LSM and short stick defender.
The JV team avenged their 7-8 loss on Tuesday by winning 8-1 on Friday. Freshman Parker Lebiedz continued to show growth making 5 saves and some great outlet passes. Calvin was excellent off ball finding the right time to cut past his defender recording a goal and an assist, while fellow sophomore Will Perkins also recorded a goal. Freshman Tyler Marsden picked up an assist and Logan Purvis found the back of the net. 8th grader RJ Proulx showed us the future was bright recording three goals and three assists. 7th grader Alistair Wright played fantastic on defense along with Jared to build a wall in front of Parker. Sophomores Mitch Cayer, James Rogers and Jacob Willett all played well at midfield.
Great job boys! The team and I look forward to welcoming back our teammates who have been away for the week. We missed you guys! The team returned to action on Tuesday against St. Thomas on the road...until then...we are...
