Derryfield vs. Hopkinton part 2
The Derryfield Girls Lacrosse team fell to a tenacious Hopkinton team. Both the Cougar's offense and defense were out of sorts in the first half and the Hawks capitalized on every mistake and scored 6 goals in the first to Derryfield's 1 goal. The Cougars found their rhythm in the second half and scored 4 unanswered goals. The Hawks came back with 2 more goals and Derryfield answered with 2 more, but the Cougars ran out of time and lost 7-8.
Our defense was led by our Senior Captain and goalie, Shawna Lesmerises with 12 saves, 20 shots on goal, and 8 goals against. Assisting Shawna were Lauren MacLean with 1 draw control, 1 ground ball, and 1 caused turnover, Leah Hoey with 3 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers, Sophie Rose Riopel with 1 ground ball and 1 caused turnover, Christine Nadeau with 1 interception, Lilly Losey with 1 ground ball and 1 caused turnover, and Hailey Ramundo with 1 ground ball and 1 caused turnover.
On the offensive end our Senior Captain Lucy Licata acquired her 200th Career goal at the 18:35 mark and tallied another 2 goals,and 4 draw controls. Adding to the offensive were Casey Benson with 2 goals, 1 assist, and 2 draw controls, Abbey Carr with 1 goal and 1 assist, and Char Rohlfs with 1 goal.
Again, CONGRATS to Lucy on her 200th GOAL.
