The Derryfield Track and Field team took to the track at Livingston Park Tuesday night to compete against Central High School and Trinity in their second-to-last regular season meet.
In discus, Sarah Murphy took first place with a throw of 74 ft 10 inches. Throwers Samantha Dominguez and Chelsea Pham took third and fourth place, with throws of 55 ft 6 in and 53 ft 5 in respectively.
The girls continued to earn points for the cougars in both the javelin and shot put. Samantha Dominguez took first in shot put and second in javelin, with team mate Sarah Murphy taking second and third in the events.
Field events were followed by some fierce competition on the track. Ben Roy took first place in the 1600 meter run, crushing his personal record time by 23 seconds with a time of 5:16
. Jon Flinkfelt followed closely behind to take 2nd place with a new personal best time of 5:41
. Liam Fanberg also made his season debut in the 1600 last night with a personal record of 6:10
Alex DeGregorio also ran a personal best time in both the 400 meter and 200 meter race last night, with a time of 1:10.33 and 30.81 respectively.
On the girls' side, Kennedy Amorim ran a personal best time in all three of her events - the 100, 400, and 200 meter race. She earned points for the Cougars in both the 200 and 400 with a second and third place finish.
The PRs continued with junior Eliza Lamont, who crushed her previous 800 meter PR with a time of 2:59
to take third place overall.
Sarah Murphy, Chelsea Pham, and Samantha Dominguez also broke their previous records in the 100 meter dash.
It was an extremely exciting night, with every member of the team earning a personal best in at least one of their events. We are looking forward to our last regular season meet next Friday
