Girls basketball season recap
Over the recent break, the girl's basketball season wrapped up in a playoff loss to Hinsdale, the eventual division 4 champion. Overall the team had a solid first season, finishing with a 11 - 5 overall record, which includes two playoff wins, and only two divisional losses. The season was much more about resiliency than anything else, and all 12 of our players came together through injury, spit testing and virtual learning to successfully put Derryfield basketball on the map in NH. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to coach such a great group of student athletes, and am so proud of how they always represented Derryfield with strong effort and admirable sportsmanship. Our team included the following players: Kailyn Plage (7th), Chloe Bremberg (8th), Jackie Connors, Kenzie Miller, Lilly Losey (9th), Hannah Schwalke, Sarah Naje, Ava Plage (10th), Emmy Plage, Julia Martin, Yeli Nikolenko, Shawna Lesmerises (12th), and managers Erin Caparelli and Emma Losey. Shawna Lesmerises earned division 4 all state honors. Emmy Plage earned 1st Team Allstate, D4 Defensive Player of the Year, Granite State All Conference, Buffalo Wild Wings Player of the Week and NH Sportspage Division 4 first team). Our 70's award winners are Shawna Lesmerises and Emmy Plage.
Thank you to Lainee Shaughnessy, Gill Roberts, Derek Lautieri, the whole buildings and grounds crew, Chris Hettler, Susan Grodman, Pete Brandt and Mary Carter for their collaborative efforts to make this season happen. A huge thank you to all faculty, staff and families, for supporting our students while virtual. We are forever grateful.
