Play for Pete ISP
Zoe Cousineau decided to do her Independent Senior Project (ISP) on creating an online store called “Play for Pete.” This store was made in memory of Peter Miller, a well known Derryfield Soccer coach who passed away suddenly back in 2017. Coach Pete taught Zoe since middle school for her FC Stars team all the way up through her sophomore year season at Derryfield. During his time being her coach, he became an inspiration, role model and someone Zoe knew she could count on. Because of this, she wanted to do something to pay forward Coach Pete’s good deeds that he once bestowed on to her.
Zoe’s website sold many homemade items, such as scrunchies, bracelets, stickers and much more that she made herself. All of the items were sold entirely on the website she had designed and constructed for the cause. She raised up to $500.00 in revenue from selling her products. All of the proceeds that were accumulated over the past few weeks will go straight towards a college fund for Coach Pete’s son, Colin. Colin will be attending Saint Anselm College next fall to continue his dreams in higher education and to play soccer.
Every season Zoe plays her best for her beloved coach and wears a “Play for Pete” bracelet around her left cleat. She has even received the annual Play for Pete Award twice since its establishment during her career here at Derryfield. But with all that aside, she wanted to honor Coach Pete one more time and in one more special way before graduating in 2020.
Located in Manchester, NH, The Derryfield School is a private day school for grades 6-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
