JV wins big against Portsmouth
The JV field hockey team played its best game so far this season defeating a strong Portsmouth team on the turf on Friday. The girls came out strong showing excellent field sense and field hockey skills. Freshmen Abbey Carr and Elena Moore were instrumental at fullback and center midfield and offered great passes to teammates to move the ball up the field. Forwards Grace Coriaty and Hannah Schwalke also played hard and had multiple corners and attempts at earning goals. Yet again, Junior Paige Davis, found herself scoring for the Cougars as she sent a hard shot pass the goalie to find the backboard. This would prove to be the team's only goal, despite many corner attempts to score. In addition, there was strong midfield play from Sophomore Erin Caparrelli and freshman Kennedy Amorim. They, with help from freshman Margaret Abate, were able to stop the Portsmouth offense from capitalizing on attacks. It was truly our best game so far, and the effort by everyone who played was tremednous.
