Cougars Sharp In Win Over Epping, 10-5
The Cougars jumped out early on Epping and just kept adding to their lead in a tidy 10-5 victory to kick off a busy week of baseball. Mitch Regan singled on the first pitch of the game and was singled home by Alex Comire who then scored on a single by Alex Drake. Epping got a single run back in the second inning, but runs by Owen Clemans, Comire, and Zach Martin in the third built the Cougar lead to 5-1. Regan and Clemans scored again in the fourth while Epping plated another single run to make the score 7-2 which quickly became 10-2 when Zach Martin, Drake, and Jake Matarese plated runs in the fifth. Epping added three of their own in the sixth, but the outcome of the game was not really in jeopardy. "We talk about winning each inning," commented Coach Blaisdell, "and we did a great job doing that today. This is a good way to start this busy week." With back-to-back-to-back games on the schedule, the Cougars used a variety of pitchers in an attempt to save arms including Regan, Clemans, Comire, Drake, and Martin. Quipped Coach Brandt, "We pitched our entire infield today!" The Cougars go on the road to Boynton tomorrow.
