Cougars Hit and Run Past Candia, 19-2
The hit parade was on for the Cougars as they earned their second win of the season over a young Candia team. In a rule-shortened game, the Cougars collected an impressive fourteen hits and stole sixteen bases to plate 19 runs in only four offensive innings. "It was great to see everyone chip in offensively today," commented Coach Blaisdell, "but what I was really pleased to see is how well we kept our concentration defensively throughout the whole game." The Cougars also got excellent pitching from starter Alex Comire (3 IP, 2 ER, 2 SO) followed by Alex Drake (3 SO) and Owen Clemans (1 SO) who both made their season debuts on the mound. OF Tucker Rozen led the Cougar offense with three hits and three RBIs while Clemans, Comire, Mulcahy, Zach Martin and Drake each pounded two hits. CF Jake Matarese also collected his first hit of the young season and scored two runs to add to the home team's attack. Added Coach Brandt, "It was great to hear the boys make some noise today, both from the bench and with their bats."
