HBDS have tough match vs unbeaten John Stark/Hopkinton

Saturday night proved that the Co-op team of John Stark/Hopkinton would be the team to beat. Returning most of the team from last year, missing two of their better players to Jr. programs in Europe. It was a gruelling battle, with the visitors remaining unbeaten and unfortunately, one "casualty."
Highlights, our goalie saw 45+ shots, only 7 went in. Most NHL goalies see only 20-25 in game. Our 3rd and 4th lines lead by Ryan Caparrelli and Trey Sovie got into the mix and had some chances. Matt Tourangeau, based on roster capacity was what is considered a healthy scratch that night. But offered insight to the team between periods.
In most of NHIAA sports, when the score gets to a one sided differential, 35 points for basketball, 6 goals in soccer, 15 goals for boys, 18 goals for girls lacrosse and 6 goals for hockey. The clock goes to running time, something of a mercy rule. This is the first time this season, unlike many times last season we had this happen. Small victories in the war.
Our casualty came in the third when one of our forwards made a move after a face off and dislocated his knee cap. I took off the coaching hat and put on the Athletic Trainer hat and tended to the injured athlete. Due to the nature of the injury we had to wait for 911 to transport him away. The doctors "popped" his kneecap back into place and the athlete is up and back to school today. His prognosis is TBD as he still needs to be assessed by an Orthopedist. With 5 minutes left in the game after the incident, the Warriors still continued to fight, never giving up.
We are 4-2 and off to Keene for an 8:00 game Wednesday night. We battle Monadnock/ Fall Mt. which was a close game 6-5, our first loss this season. The game will not end until 10, then 2 hours back to home. A late night for Trey, Ryan, Rylan and Matt.
