Fall Sports Recap & Post-Season Preview

Playoff Schedule: (Team) Thursday, Oct. 11 at Laconia CC (Individual); Saturday, Oct. 13 at Derryfield CC
Record: 3rd of 19 (20-2) Division III
Recap: Coach Arvantis said, “The team rounded into good form as the season went along with the top 2 players in the division Colin McCaigue and Gunnar Senatore playing excellent golf all season. Colin had the best scoring average in Div. 3 this year, while Gunnar was the defending individual champ.” The team had an excellent regular season going 20-2 finishing in 3rd place with the losses to the top 2 teams in the division.  The team also took 3rd overall due to the team championships being cancelled due to weather. During the individual championships at Derryfield Country Club Juniors Colin McCaigue and Gunnar Senatore battled the elements on a bitterly cold and windy day finding success by placing 3rd and 4th respectively after finishing runner up and champion in 2017.

Final Race: Sunday, Oct. 28, Head of the Fish Regatta, Saratoga Springs, NY
Recap: Derryfield crew has had a strong season, improving on 2017 results in many events. Our senior double of Mark Rotering and Max Karpawich won the youth double event at the Textile River Regatta in Lowell, MA, and placed third at the New Hampshire Championships. The boys’ team is made up of a strong group of young athletes, which allows us to field a deep group of boats in the youth coxed four events. Our top boys’ coxed four placed 14th at Textile (up from 44th in 2017) and 12th at NHCs (up from 26th in 2017). Our top boys’ novices raced a coxed four at Textile, placing a respectable 9th, and all novice boys joined together to row a coxed eight at NHCs, placing 20th. Having graduated our entire first boat in 2018, the girls’ team is small but mighty. An impressive group of novice girls placed 7th at the Textile, and combined with our three returning rowers to race a varsity eight at NHCs, placing 14th. The future looks bright! Crew will finish up the season at the Head of the Fish Regatta on October 28, racing against crews from Canada and all over the Northeast. We are hoping to come home with a coveted Fish Head Trophy!
