Why I Give
Steff McCusker '84
The Derryfield School always felt “safe,” which allowed me to take academic and extracurricular risks. It was a place where I felt known and appreciated for who I was, and that was celebrated by faculty and students alike through tons of school spirit. I learned a good deal of grammar, I learned how to think critically and write thoughtfully, and I learned to embrace (and enjoy!) different perspectives. I also learned for the first time that I loved playing competitive sports!
I am currently part of a wonderful junior boarding school community, where I play a number of different roles, and I attribute my success to the experiences I had at Derryfield. I was a student as well as a teacher and Admission Officer, and I developed a love of writing and a grammar/style “nerdiness” that has served me well.
I give to the Annual Fund each year because I know what a gift this kind of an education is—and for so many folks, the “real cost” would put this opportunity out of reach without Annual Fund dollars. I will forever feel indebted to this amazing school for the leg up it gave me in so many areas of my life.
I hope you will join me in making a gift to the 2016-2017 Annual Fund.
Located in Manchester, NH, The Derryfield School is a private day school for grades 6-12. Students benefit from a challenging academic program, fine and performing arts, competitive athletics, and a wide selection of extracurricular activities.
